I've been Labour Member of Parliament for Nottingham East since 2010 – and I'm currently the chair of the Parliamentary Labour Party's Treasury Committee. I became shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury in 2013 and, after Labour's defeat in the May 2015 election, I was Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer. I held this position until September 2015, when I decided to step down from the frontbench. I believe firmly that Labour can win if we listen to the wider public and present a credible alternative government to the Conservatives.
