Carillion is an illustration of the foolhardiness of outsourcing critical services to a private company.  Its business model of submitting unsupportably low bids for public sector contracts and then attempting to use its size to subcontract the work at even lower tenders in order to make a profit has proved disastrous.

The Labour front bench should ask written parliamentary questions about the details of government procurement contracts with outsourcers such as Carillion.
